Lupin the 3rd: Castle of Cagliostro

Alternate Titles: Rupan Sansei: Cagliostro no Shiro, (Lupin the Third)

Original Japanese Release Date: 1979

Episode Length/Run-time: 100 Minutes

Summary:

Lupin the Third is young but already infamous in just about every country across the globe.  He has caught wind of legendary counterfeit printing plates known as the “goat bills” located in a feudal-like kingdom in the middle of nowhere.  When he gets there he is wrapped up into the political happenings and strange occurrences after he rescues a damsel in distress who ends up being the Lady of the castle who is more a prisoner than a Lady.

Review:

This movie is Lupin at his best.  A slightly more innocent Lupin his feelings for Lady seem more earnest than the international playboy which we know and love.  That doesn’t make him bad by any stretch though! Of course in the end Lupin only has eyes for Fujiko.

It’s a fun watch and a movie which is one of Miyazaki, yes THE Miyazaki, original film.
