Ramble your face off

I mean, what does that even mean?!  I’m so confused.  As usual.

Contrary to what the title would lead you to believe, I’m here for Gundam.  Unicorn that is.  Because it’s awesome.  The third part was released about a week and half to two weeks before the massive quake in Japan.  I remember when an earthquake interrupted an episode of Destiny back in the day, but it certainly wasn’t powerful enough to fight with a nuclear reactor.  Thus I fully expect the fourth part of the six-part OVA to be pushed back beyond November.

To commemorate the first half of Unicorn being released, some friends and I (all of us associated with the Junk Guild) marathoned all three episodes.  Back to back to dinner to back.  By the time the final episode is released, I’m going to be able to recite the early episodes off by heart.  And that is not a bad thing.

So, spoilers for Gundam Unicorn up to this point.  Haters be warned eh?  They start after this wonderful image:Kido Senshi Gundam Unicorn

Episode 3 picks up directly where 2 left off.  ECOAS is in position around Palau (Neo-Zeon’s asteroid base and colony) to rescue Banagher and retrieve the Unicorn Gundam, only Banagher escapes confinement and manages to retrieve the Gundam on the way out.  He learns of Audrey’s plan to go to Earth with Riddhe, and makes him promise to protect her with his life.  Marida enters the battelfield and the NT-D enters a Berserk mode that tears the Kshatriya apart with ease.  He stops himself from delivering the killing blow after sharing a Newtype experience.

Upon Banagher’s return to the Nahel Argama, he is debriefed by the captain and Commander Daguza.  Daguza reminds that he has altered the fate of three battlefields so far, and tells him he now has a responsibility.  At this point it is clear there is a relationship between the two of them, even if neither of them understand it clearly.  Alberto plots with some AE woman (the grand-daughter of the man who escaped the destruction of Laplace at the beginning of UC) to turn Marida over to another facility.

At the same time, the Unicorn with Daguza in tow enters the remnants of Laplace to see if it will help unlock the next level in the Unicorn’s latent potential.  Full Frontal attacks to gain more information on the Unicorn while the other Neo-Zeon remnants attack the Nahel Argama to retrieve Marida.  Daguza exits the Unicorn to lay a trap for the Sinanju, which fails to do any lasting damage beyond cosmetic, but rather enrages Banagher to the point where he is driven to try and kill Full Frontal with no regard to his own safety.  It ends with Banagher in the Unicorn falling to Earth and the Nahel Argama preparing to follow.

That is a quick recap and certainly is not a detail summary of events.   For that I would suggest watching the episode.  Bandai has released information that episode 4 will be delayed because most of the episode takes place on Earth, which requires more work to draw and shade properly.  And of course the ongoing issues with nuclear reactor don’t help anything.
