Episode 231 – Chiaki’s Cooking Show! Katsu Curry
Chiaki is back with another cooking show! This time she’s going to show you how to make Japanese style Katsu curry at home. Click the episode title above for your ingredients list and recipe to follow along with.
Curry –
You need:
- 1-2 Boxes of Golden Curry or other curry mix
- Assorted Vegetables
Instructions:
- Prepare Curry as instructed on box, it’s just that easy!
Katsu –
You need:
- 1/2 8oz can panko breadcrumbs – unseasoned
- 2 eggs
- 5 Pork Chops
- Flour
- Oil
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Begin by salting and peppering the pork chops, if you have thicker ones, or desire, use a meat hammer to thin/tenderize
- Pour panko into a skillet and begin heating on medium-high heat
- Stir Panko constantly until golden brown
- Add about 2 tbs of olive oil, turn off heat, continue to stir
- Remove golden brown panko from heat and put onto a plate
- On a dish with flour rub flour on one pork chop
- Dip the pork chop into a bowl with the eggs, beaten
- Coat with the prepped panko
- Place on a foiled and oiled baking sheet
- Repeat for all pork chops
- Bake at 350F (180C) for 30-35 minutes for every 1in of thickness
Katsu Sauce –
Ingredients:
- 3tbs Ketchup
- 1 tbs mirin
- 1 1/2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbs sugar
- 1/2 tbs soy sauce
- Ground Ginger & Garlic Powder to taste
Instructions:
- Mix all ingredients together
